After 1,588,000 locals and tourists passed through the gates of this world expo, Portland was the place to be! Many stayed in Portland and made a new life here, some returned and then made another trip to make it their home. Hundreds of thousands postcards sent prompted Portland. Hotels needed to be built and they were to handle the tourism. The expo lasted 4.5 months. Guilds Lake was built for the event.
